 General Overseer, Andrew Valentine

 

Bishop Andrew J. Valentine is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. He received his primary and secondary education in the Metropolitan Nashville School System, and is a graduate of Tennessee State University (B.S- Mathematics) and the Tennessee School of Banking. Bishop Valentine accepted Christ as Savior and Lord as a teenager and has remained a member of the Church of God, Sanctified since. He accepted the call to the preaching ministry in 1979 and began his first pastorate in 1980. He presently serves as Senior Pastor of the Lebanon Church of God (Lebanon, Tennessee), where he has labored for 22 years. In addition to his pastoral duties, he has served in a number of regional and national offices in the Church of God, Sanctified. Among them are: National Secretary (1986-1992) Vice-President H.Y.P.U; Sunday School & Usher Board Convention (1988-1996) District Overseer-Central Tennessee Jurisdiction (1992-1996) District Treasurer- Central Tennessee Jurisdiction (1985-1992. At the June 2004 Convention, the general assembly elected him to succeed Bishop Herbert Dudley to the highest office in the Church of God Sanctified organization-- 'General Overseer'. In this capacity, he serves as the presiding prelate with responsibility for forty-three churches in the United States as well as churches in London, England and Jamaica, British West Indies. Bishop Valentine also serves in a number of local and community organizations. In addition to his ecclesiastical responsibilities he is employed by the State of Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development as Financial Administrator. He has been happily married for over thirty years to his lovely wife and First Lady of the Churches of God Sanctified, Inc., Beverley, who labors by his side in the work of the Lord. Pastor & Sister Valentine are the proud parents of two children (Timothy and Vanessa) and two grand children (Nyema and Xavier).

 

 Assistant General Overseer, Bishop Jerry Gordon

 

 

 


Bishop Jerry E. Gordon was born March 11, 1944 in Nashville, Tennessee. As a young man, he attended the Church of God in Franklin, Tennessee, where he accepted Christ under the leadership of Bishop H. C. Nesbitt. Bishop Jerry E. Gordon is a 1964 graduate of Pearl High School. He also attended Tennessee State University, Draughons Business College, and Famous Art School of America. On February 17, 1968, he married Bettye Scruggs. He was called to the ministry in June of 1970, while attending the June Convention in Detroit, Michigan. He entered the Pastoral Ministry in 1971, after being licensed by Bishop H.C. Nesbitt, Church of God, Franklin Tennessee. He was ordained to the ministry during the August Convention in 1973 and consecrated as Bishop in August 1992. Bishop Gordon received an Honorary Doctrine of Divinity Degree from Faith Evangelistic Christian School, November 25, 1990. Over the years, Bishop Gordon has pastored many churches. His first church was Woodbine Church of God. Others included Churches of God in Shelbyville, Centerville, Gallatin, and Louisville, Kentucky. Currently he is the proud Pastor of the Meharry Church of God. He previously served as the Second General Overseer of the Church of God Sanctified, Incorporated, with direct responsibly for the Central District, Tri-State District, and Foreign Fields.
Bishop Gordon is an anointed man of God who loves preaching and teaching the Word of God. He preaches in season and out of season. The work must go on.
